Note: This is a serious business seminar for investors, executives and entrepreneurs. It is not for patients or consumers. Each session includes Q&A time so you can get your most pressing concerns addressed.

Session #1. New Financial & Business Benchmark Data for the Cannabis Industry

Fresh from leading the research team for the Marijuana Business Factbook 2013, Chris Walsh will present an overview of industry financials, including:

Market-size projections for legal cannabis and medical marijuana
How MMJ entrepreneurs currently fund their company launches
Biggest launch costs, typical revenues & profits bu business segment
He’ll also discuss the banking and payment processing considerations that affect everyone involved in the industry (including ancillary businesses that don’t “touch” marijuana itself and investors.)

Lastly, he’ll give a useful overview of legal considerations everyone entering the industry MUST be aware of.

Session #2. Investing Advisory on the Cannabis Industry

As a Board Director for a publicly traded medical marijuana and hemp-related company (OTC: MJNA), Tripp Keber will share his advice for private equity executives and angel investors eyeing the MMJ sector. He will also discuss what cannabis entrepreneurs seeking funding need to know about pitching investors. You’ll learn about business valuations, funding sources and how the regulatory outlook affects private equity.

Session #3. Typical Cannabis Business Mistakes & How to Avoid Them

With extensive knowledge of dispensary operations in several states, Jessica Billingsley will discuss mistakes she’s seen cannabis businesses frequently make — from operations to financing, staffing, marketing and partnerships. She’ll also talk about the funding strategy her company used and the reasons behind the decision. If you are an investor, use Jessica’s insights to vet and advise businesses you’re considering supporting. If you’re an entrepreneur, this is your heads-up to avoid potential problems and learn about the benefits and drawbacks of a key financing method for startups.

Session #4. Tri-State Area Cannabis Business Opportunities & Regulatory Outlook

As a key leader at the center of Connecticut’s nascent medical marijuana industry and a longtime regulatory activist, Erik Williams will brief you on which opportunities are worth exploring in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut (and which are not). If you’re considering launching or investing in a local MMJ business, be sure to bring your questions and connect with him!
