Sujitta is wrong and here's why:

Sujitta states: "mmm.... I live din Thailand many years..... most motorcycle taxis are for VERY short rides... a block or two... thats it....."

From the UN's Informal Transport for the Developing World:

“Because they can zig-zag through traffic, motorcycle-taxis are steadily gaining popularity for longer journeys.”

"Table 6.1. Paratransit Modes with Informal Services
Average Trip
Distance (km)

Pedicab 1.1-3.4
Motorcycle taxi 2.1-5.3
3-wheel scooter 3.0-5.0"

Sujitta states: "and they are used by the lower class..." and "The rest are more or less the working poor...."

Again from the UN's Informal Transport for the Developing World:

"Socio-Economic Standing
Faster modes, like motorcycle-taxis and commercial vans, often serve educated, professional class people."

and from Dr. Claudio Sopranzetti, a transport expert from Harvard who did his doctoral thesis on moto taxis in Bangkok:

“These are people everybody uses every day. There are 200,000 motorcycle taxis in Bangkok. Each of them makes normally 20 to 30 trips per day. Let’s say 20. That is four million trips a day. Skytrain and subway together do not reach a million trips a day. This is a massive means of transportation in the city.”

“Claudio Sopranzetti: Most motorcycle taxi have surprisingly close relationships to people who are clearly upper class, because these high class people use them. If I am a wealthy man, I send my servant to buy food from streets vendors. If I am a really wealthy man and I run a company, I have one or several messengers who are motorcycle taxis. I use them constantly...”

“Motorcycle taxis are involved with a wide spectrum of classes. They do different services for different classes.”

Conclusion: Facts from bona fide experts and published studies as opposed to shoddy anecdotal evidence (claim of non-factual information based on a person's experience) from an unknown person using an alias who claims to have lived somewhere for some length of time (and coming across as the archetypal resentful expat).

And to quote crowbar24382: "Why does some of you think this company just going to have BUSINESS in Thailand?"
