Anyone can take the test, as long as you pay $900 CDN.
You do have to be sponsored by an actual brokerage to work, but you have to be certified by the Canadian Securities Institute first. https://www.csi.ca/ ... it involves passing 2 exams and then taking a Conduct and Ethics course.
Good question why go through all the trouble if you hope one day you won't use it. Its for back up, I'm currently self-employed and don't wanna trap myself! As for me wishing to make money and be a full-time trader, that would be great lol, but I would still need a safety net to be caught in! Just in case. Once you pass the exams your certification is valid for 3 years. Currently the work I do right now can allow me to find another job, hoping my other job can be trading for myself, but I'm not betting on that. But if that happens I hope it allows me to be a philanthropist!
