I think you are slight over estimating the worst case scenario. I'm not saying this will happen, but: if enrollment closed in mid june, that doesn't mean all the patients started receiving treatment by then. Treatment for some could have started a bit later.

Also, remember that the control arm has mos of 6.7 months (from what I have seen but I am not an expert on this) and there are other drugs in development that have hit 8.5 months in conjunction with Gem. (Celgene's candidate).

Also don't forget that with small numbers in these phase II trials, it can easily happen that the results go poof when eventually expanding into larger phase III.

There is no reason to think management would announce the mos within one week of hitting it. They'll want to check things well after last time, and choose a good time for a pr.
