Look people, I never argued that the old technology would be discarded. I never said anything of the kind. Yet, here we go again: my actual arguments are restated to consist of wording (or ideas, for that matter), that I would never, in this universe, put forward.

Why have I had a spate of having to deal with this problem of putting wording I never used into my mouth?

An example of this is this statement made in the post I'm replying to, where it is said of me:

You seem like a minority here thinking that someone is going to throw away equipment bought last year simply because there is something better on the market.

I never said anything of the kind!!!!!!!!!

I, in no way, EVER said word one about discarding the old stuff.

Look at any war we've been in. Take WW2, for example.

Did the government throw out the B26's or the B17's when the B29 came into the picture in WW2?

Of course not. The new got a budget and nobody would ever have thought that bringing in the B29 necessitated the discarding of the older bombers.

And obviously, I may not be the sharpest pencil in the pack, but I at least have the common sense to know better than to take such a viewpoint and promote it.

Another example... when the P51 came out, did ths US suddenly discard older fighter planes?

Of course not.

Pick any plane... any war. NEVER NEVER NEVER did the appearance of a new and better piece of technology mean that the buyer suddenly discarded the old stuff. Obviously I'm not saying that as part of my arguments!!!

I am making an entierly different point because I am arguing against an idea that was repeatedly made that I think is ridiculous and that has no merit at all: the argument was put out there, rather forcefully in fact, that last years purchases would inhibit sales of this newer & far better stuff.

Nonsense.

And my argument does not even come close to containing the idea that the old stuff will get discarded.

Again, nonsense!! I make no such argument AT ALL!!

EVER!!!

The old buys in any generation & in any technology NEVER NEVER NEVER stopped the budgeting necessary to buy something better when it appeared on the scene...

...and the appearance of a new technology, SUCH AS THE IMPLANT TECHNOLOGY, NEVER EVER meant that the old stuff had to get jettisoned. The old was kept and the new was budgeted for.

A complete misrepresentation.
NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER!!

I never said word one about getting rid of old stuff because, to look again at my example of the P51 Mustang, its appearance did not see the government discarding old fighter planes, did it?

DID IT????!!

Likewise, the appearance of Implant's newer and better solution will in no way limit the instances where buyers of prior solutions, that are now inferior solutions, will revist this issue. And there will be budget money found.

Simple, Simple, Simple, Simple, Simple argument.... an argument that in no way, form, fashion, or manner includes the thinking that the old stuff will get discarded.

How does it help the discussion to insist on putting false wording in my mouth?

Gad!
