And you could ask similar questions about any number of bleeding edge technologies in their infancy.

For instance Cars:

1. They sure make a lot of noise and scare horses...who in their right mind would want one?
2. Where is a consistent fuel supply?
3. They need roads. Who's going to build them?
..etc etc.......
