Cliff: Financial Theft:

I don't understand the fears about internet purchasing. I do it all the time. If the day ever comes when someone charges something wrongly, I guarantee my bank will cover it. I agree with you. If THEY aren't worried about it, why should I be? The convenience is fantastic. And, that doesn't even count the kickbacks.

As to brokerage accounts, that may be different. I am going on the assumption that it is impossible for anyone to get in without my account name, number and password - something that should be impossible for anyone to get. But, if they did, presumably, they could do things that I wouldn't want done. The worst thing would be to ask for a check to be sent. However, the check must be sent to the address on the account. If the address gets changed, I get an email notifying me of it as a safeguard. If they wire it, they first had to go through a bunch of Q&A stuff to establish the bank to have it wired to. So, there is really a minsicule chance of a problem, and frankly, I don't ever recall one time hearing of a case where this has happened.
