First of all, it's always recommended to uninstall java before installing the newest version. And uninstalling doesn't always get rid of all java files, some corrupted scraps may have been left behind which affects all java installed. You need to know what you're doing when uninstalling the way I suggested so you don't accidently delete a file that shouldn't be deleted because once deleted it's deleted forever. Ask someone who knows what they're doing if you're not sure...
