Selecting the stopping thresholds in futility trials as well as futility interim analysis seems to me as the critical step and perhaps even more important than choosing the statistical method to calculate the probability of future success.



"calculating the probability of future success" is how they "select the stopping thresholds" in a normal ph iii. And I'd hazard the guess that most alternate methods you choose to 'select the stopping threshold' are directly related to a statistical calculation they performed for either the interim or the final. Can't get away from statistics that easily! -g-
