I think this board could do itself a lot of favors if people without a scientific background would refrain from in-depth scientific analyses. Not all of course (I understand this is a biotech) but the really technical bits. Without a cursory knowledge of molecular biology, a lot of the statements made in the last few days are frustratingly inane to read and wind up being misleading if you don't know better. The business purposes of a UV-induced red silk are interesting to think about, and I agree that it would be nice to know which platform they used to make it (probably ZFN, but I won't speculate past an assumption until I hear more), but the speculation is spilling over into really pointless semantic arguments ("technically correct" = nananana-booboo stick your head in doodoo) which derails more interesting discussion points.

Otherwise, I'm excited for Ben's response regarding frequency of PRs in the coming weeks. Ben, like most on the board, is not a scientist though so if you want the specifics of your scientific minutia answered I'd try and get in touch with Kim instead (harder, I realize).

EDIT: I didn't offer any answers because the PR was vague. Like a Bible, you can get different messages from it if you read it with tinted glasses. I'm just waiting for a more technical PR (or conference call) to address the scientific aspects. I'm not just being a withholding schmuck.
