SAN DIEGO, March 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SureBeam Corporation (Nasdaq: SURE - News) announced today that consumers can now buy SureBeam® processed fresh ground beef at 67 Marsh Supermarkets, Inc. throughout Indiana and western Ohio. Marsh is selling fresh ground beef products processed with SureBeam Corporation's revolutionary electron beam technology, a process that uses ordinary electricity to safely eliminate the threat of dangerous bacteria from food products.
"Marsh prides itself on offering its customers the highest quality meats," said Don E. Marsh, Chairman and CEO Marsh Supermarkets. "SureBeam fresh ground beef with its extra level of safety will be a nice addition to the Marsh meat department."
Marsh Supermarkets is selling SureBeam processed fresh ground beef in one- pound case-ready packages of 81-percent lean ground chuck and 93-percent lean ground beef.
"Marsh continues their tradition of innovation and market leadership by offering SureBeam processed fresh ground beef," said Mark Stephenson, SureBeam Vice President of Public Relations. "The additional safety benefits they are providing their customers by offering this new option is a terrific example of this proud tradition."
Similar to a microwave oven, SureBeam technology uses electricity as an energy source to irradiate harmful bacteria such as E. coli, Listeria, and Salmonella. The SureBeam patented system is based on proven electron beam technology that destroys dangerous bacteria, much like thermal pasteurization does to milk.
