BigB when I was 14 my father and I would go on the South Side jetty of Indian River Inlet. That was 1970 or so. Many times I would drag a stringer of 8 or 9 sea trout off of the rocks. My Diawa 8 foot two piece has been waiting for me to put new guides on it for about three years now. That rod is 36 years old. As I get choked up I think about those times with my father. When I was fishing with him I swore to myself that I would remember times and dates and fish caught. My memory does not serve me well. The one thing that is imprinted for all time in my mind are those times spent fishing with him. If we arrived at 2am to catch the beginning of the incoming tide that is what we would do.
I miss those times never thinking they would be gone at the time. To reminisce about those days. BigB I do count myself lucky to have spent quality time with my father like that. Your children will appreciate you for sharing your interests with them. Fishing is a way to relax and get away.
