Fresenius to open 30 dialysis clinics in India by 2015

NEW DELHI: Global kidney therapy specialist Fresenius Medical Care today it is embarking on an expansion drive in India, with plans to open up to 30 dialysis clinics across India by 2015.

The expansion will be undertaken by its wholly-owned subsidiary Fresenius Medical Care India (FMCI).

"FMCI will open up to 30 dialysis clinics across India at an investment of nearly Rs 60 crore," Fresenius Medical Care Executive Vice-President (Central Asia-Pacific) Frank Wagner told PTI.


The company is already marketing renal disease management products in India, he added.

"The clinics will be across India and apart from metro's the company is also looking at tier II and tier III cities," Fresenius Medical Care India Managing Director Dhruv Chaturvedi said.

The company is committed to India and if more investments are required it would be done, Wagner said.

"In India the price point is being kept between Rs 1,500- Rs 3,000 per session. Our aim is to give quality standards at affordable rates," he added.

The company also plans to open manufacturing facilities In India for some products as the volumes grow.

"We are looking to set up manufacturing facilities for some products," Wagner said.

Asia-Pacific market is growing at the fastest rate for the company and is witnessing a double digit growth. China, India, Korea and Taiwan will be the main drivers for growth in the region, he said.

At present the company has around 250 dialysis clinics in Asia, he added.

Fresenius Medical Care India had registered revenues of Rs 200 crore in the last year and has seen robust growth over the years.

"The company is witnessing growth of 25 to 30 per cent. With consolidation of products business and establishment of clinic business we expect it to be better," Chaturvedi said.
