My take on the data be "delayed" is:

1) Have it verified by other industry professionals.
2) Coordinate it with the investors conference so as to spark immediate interest without the PPS already being affected
3) Get all other "ducks" in a row in preparation thereof.

No harm no foul, in my opinion. And if it were "bad" or lackluster results, wouldn't it have been smarter to issue the data and then let as much time between that and the conference go by so that people "forget" or the initial impact isn't as bad?
