SemiconEng, Considering that P4 3.06 was introduced before XP3000+, the 4 pages(P4) vs. 3 pages(XP) availability on pricewatch very impressive.
The point re: delay is, I believe, that Hammer will take less time to get to real income than Itanium took. And AMD doesn't have to "push" Hammer, they're being "pulled" toward profitability by it. The world's beating a path to the doorway of the purveyor of the "better moustrap". I will grant that they've placed all their bets on Hammer, so "gotta get to Hammer" is valid. Of course, we don't know what they plan for the next generation.
Fortunately, all the speculation will be laid to rest soon.
