An employee can leave at his choosing, even in California (where I reside), whereas an independent consultant’s written agreement with the Company may be more restrictive, by imposing specific performance obligations upon the consultant. In any event, in case you weren’t aware of it, forms of indentured servitude have been outlawed in this Country for a long time.
