Over and over and over again -- I have tried to explain this -- TO NO AVAIL. The MM s are ALLOWED to legally go naked short. ALL adjustments of debits and credits are made at the DEPOSITORY. They go short against the DEPOSITORY ---- NOT NOT NOT NOT against clients. There are no such things as air shares or I O U shares. If you wish to have ALL the shares you have bought and you wish to take your certificates home -- YOU CAN DO THAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
