Dear HailMary,

Don't get your hopes up so high with this AMD doing good thingy.

For one, ever since dirt, these two companies have been leap-frogging each other in miniscule jumps in performance. It's happened before, it happening again, it's all happened before in mainframes. Where have you been.

Secondly, there is *no way* AMD is going to compete with Intel if they don't offer 65nm production. Get it? They *have* to do it.

Third, the incremental performance that AMD has today and the incremental performance that Intel had last "leap" means nothing to the average consumer since they don't even know about the performance difference. They're busy taking care of their kids, attending hockey matches and playing golf on wekeends. All they want to do with a computer is do their job. You and me, we're here. Most people will never use the second core for the next three years and if they do it will be about 5% of the time, if that. I hope they notice it's faster with the 2nd core.

Fourth, Intel marketing machine war chest of $300M is about 8 weeks from exploding. People will hear that.

Fifth, by AMDs own admission, the market is growing from 200M units to 400M units by 2009. If companies don't put manufacturing plans in place *right now*, they won't be able to participate in the coming growth.

You need to get a grip on reality, you're listening to too much FUD.

As you say, "Good luck to you in any case".
