INFO! INFO! INFO! GREAT INFORMATION ON TASK FORCE ASSIGNED FOR NEW MARIJUANA LEGISLATION! Could be beneficial here.
The task force is headed by Jack Finlaw, Hickenlooper's chief legal counsel, and Barbara Brohl, the Revenue Department executive director. Its other members include a representative from the Amendment 64 campaign, a law professor, a medical-marijuana business owner, four lawmakers, Colorado Agriculture Commissioner John Salazar and a man "representing marijuana consumers."
The task force's make-up has so far received a good reception. Brian Vicente, one of the leaders of the Amendment 64 campaign, said at a forum last week that the task force is the right way to address the host of issues the new amendment raises. "I think it's a fairly balanced task force," Vicente said. "There's a lot of fair people from both the marijuana industry and law enforcement."
At the same forum, David Blake, who will represent the Colorado attorney general's office on the task force, agreed. "It's a sound model to move forward," Blake said, "so long as the people on the panel are reasonable," which he said they are.
