I would consider the fact that state and local governments are currently seeing the greatest budgetary stress in decades. If you subscribe to my premise that things will continue to get worse instead of better, then the insurance becomes important. MBIA does not have the reserve equity to even begin to cover the large number of defaults one would expect if we enter into a debt cleansing cycle.

Just my opinion, though.
