As an IT professional who works extensively with wireless hardware I want to inform you that the more accurate terminology is "wireless access point" or AP and not "router". A router routes traffic from one network to another. Most consumer home wireless networking devices have routers built into them so they can route LAN (your device) traffic to the WAN (internet).
They usually also include a multi-port switch and a wireless access point. And yes unfortunately they are referred to as "wireless routers".
And while most consumers and small businesses use these multi-function devices, Medium to large businesses and campuses use scalable, managed systems with many access points. Routing of traffic is done with separate equipment.

Saying router is like calling concrete cement.
