I just happen to be around this a.m. :) "but I have difficulty seeing the buyer-seller relationship as threatening" I don't know how one could use the word threatening.
This is not about few players persay, it's combined in both 'current relationships with a product that has worked for years and years'.
Verses a new relationship with a product that is untested.
"I would expect numerous test environments with larger and larger deployments over time " That is true...
If I'm a CEO and someone desires too sell me an unproven product [one that states it's warranted for 7 years], could I be convinced in buying say 20 for a test in 12months? Maybe maybe not.
If I'm a CEO and someone desires too sell me an unproven product [one that states it's warranted for 7 years], show me your buyers, and who's buying this over a period of time and I might think about changing my thinking. In other words SHOW me who's buying?
A year and a half is nothing for this type of change without a super-charged advertising sales/marketing plan. One that would have cost hundreds of thousands. This is not the type of program DW has set forth, that much is obvious.
DW's program here is frugal and long term without bearing more burden for shareholders.

All I can say is that I'm glad the old school in me knows not too buddy up with today's thinking model. Have. It. Now....
I was born in 1955 and very very thankful for that.
