They COULD do what you and I want, but they WON'T, because to simplify things would uncover how crooked they all are.
End the IRS. End "deductions." End the ability for corporations to "lobby" for laws. Make it illegal for any politician to accept more than a $100 donation.
In other words, get rid of all the bureaucratic BS they have surrounded themselves with and loaded the country down with.
Then, pass a simple, retail level consumption tax that raises what the gov't needs to run. Tie every citizen to an exemption card and their SS # for some flat exemptions, such as $7,000 for rent or mortgage, insurance, food, etc.
This would work, raise the money, be fair for all sectors (rich buy more and would pay the lion's share of taxes), but it would put thousands of federal lawyers, tax agents, and scum out of work, so it will never be considered.
