He should be around for Haswell's launch which will be a fitting farewell, the culmination of a fine low power line he first sanctioned with Pentium-M. How he rescued this company from Barrett's dual Pentium 4/Itanium strategy which was leading it to the rocks of rack and ruin is not fully appreciated by general observers. He's left behind a lean mean executing machine for the rest of the life of traditional silicon processes.
