Cable Selection Considerations
PacifiCorp selected ACCC® conductor to increase existing line capacity without rebuilding or reinforcing existing support structures. ACCC® conductor’s superior low sag characteristics and ability to increase delivery capacity during peak periods also factored into their decision.
Outcome
PacifiCorp was able to achieve their project goals by selecting ACCC® conductor as the reconductor alternative to a larger and heavier ACSR.
ACCC® conductor eliminated the need to replace or reinforce 145 existing structures. PacifiCorp was able to reconductor the tie without delays or lengthy commercial disruption for additional tower support construction. The ACCC® reconductor also provided an economical option over other prospective conductors under consideration. ACCC® conductor’s low sag characteristics were a perfect fit for increasing line capacity on structures that had significant distribution under-build.
