Ultimately it may be that once again the "Core" team(yes, pun intended) holds the key to their success. That means we may forget about anything at least until Silvermont-derivatives. Remember the Anandtech article about Intel allowing Core and Atom teams to work closely together?

So don't be so down. Didn't you see the post about 3.3% decrease in desktop and 3.5% increase in laptop sales? And Intel is nowhere near going away. Even the first three quarters alone is almost as much as entire 2010 calendar year, and that was a good one.

And I can tell you while it may not meet their lofty projections, Ultrabooks have gained significant mindshare amongst people, especially with Windows 8 release and Convertibles. Yes, it has took all their combined best efforts, but Intel might just pull it off.

Honestly, I don't care too much about the Tablet Atom line. It has the worst of both worlds, low ASPs of Smartphone chips and low volumes. In smartphones Medfield is doing better than expected, and potential volumes are very large. In Ultrabooks and Notebooks they got the ASPs. Tablets just overlap against competitors like the iPad and Surface, both RT and Pro.
