I just listened to their 10/9/12 presentation at BIO Investor Forum and there is reference to if Alpha 1 HDL is 1 mg/deciliter more in one person compared to another, that person has a 26% lower chance of cardiovascular risk.
As per my previous comment that the 26% reduction in risk per 1 mg/dl seems very high for the component that makes up most of HDL-C - which, per the below cite, reduces risk by only 2-3% per mg/dl:
Moreover, a meta-analysis of four prospective studies (the Framingham Heart Study, the Multiple Risk Factor Intervention Trial (MRFIT), the Lipid Research Clinics Prevalence Mortality Follow-up Study and the Coronary Primary Prevention Trial) revealed that CHD risk is elevated by 3% in women and 2% in men for each 1 mgdl-1 (0.026 mmoll-1) decrement in HDL-cholesterol.
