brokers that start their brokerage careers by cold calling hundreds of potential clients PER DAY, while working for sleazy brokerage firms aren't considered to be in "finance".

As far as all the CEO talk goes, the guy was in finance. That's what people in finance do. I don't think it's so shocking. The only reason this guy is in the CEO position is for his finnacal "savvy". They opted to go the public route as opposed to the more popular private venture capital route and in this scenario, it makes more sense to have a finace guy up top. They start to gain some momentum and I think he'll be replaced quickly.
