I call that balanced and fair. His observation was that I occupied a rodent lair that was olafactorily challenged. I rejoined that the only way he could have observed that was by peering out of his own rodent lair, possibly mistaking the scent for his own. When he opined that I had the occupation of being the biggest fool in a certain town, I replied that I had graciously vacated the position in his favour.

Fairness, balance and absence of rancor were uppermost in my mind at the time.
