They were not in Iraq. Iraq posed no immenent threat. Iraq
was under constant scrutany with 2/3 of the country's air space restricted to US and British planes and the heart of the country subject to weapons inspections including Saddam's Palace prior to the USA lead invasion.
There were no WMD's there were no Terrorist occupation.
While they did not always comply with the UN resolutions the conditions did not merrit 100's of billions in US resources and thousands of Dead and wounded.
in addition to that to destabilize the regin creating opportunity for the terrorist to take hold and inspire untold numbers of persecuted and displaced Iraqis to become terrorist
cannot help to make us safer. We are fueling the fires not extinquishing the threat.
As to changing the culture by military action,if someone were to kill a member of your family or take you or your family member in the middle of the night to prison where they are held without trial and in many cases tortured (which this administration admitted when they said it was ok because they are non military combatants and not subject to the Genevia convention rules, and reafirmed by doing commiting the same atrosities in Afghanistan and Gitmo)would that inspire you to lay down your arms or would you not join the against us. By the way there were no heads being chopped off until after the
prison abuses became publisized.
Also think about what you are trying to achieve thru force you want this culture to denounce there ways and become westernized, when to do that requires turning there backs on there religion since there Gov't is religious based and tribal.
Could a foriegn entity beat your religion out of you, make you turn your back on JC and your G-d.
On the issue of alternate fuels, it is not that our changing sources would turn Arabs into infidel lovers, it would severly hamper there ability to fund and support there terrorist network beyond there own boarders. We are financing the enemy.
Also look at the economic and ecological benefits with a USA
farm grown fuel source like ethanol combined with hydrogen Fuel cells that remove the Carbondioxide of fossil fuels and replace it with water. My apologies if thats to liberal a thought, clean air and all.
It is also unsettling you bring up the "Christian Value" talking points in context to the handling of the war. It reafirms the guise and context that this is a revival of the crusades as once again the Christians have an Army (the US Army) and seemingly the whole movement is intermingled.

I do not condon the murder of unborn children, nor do I share the belief that an unfertilized egg is a child, I also do not glorify homosexuality, nor do I harbour ill will, castigate or pass judgement on alternate life styles. I would hope to never become that arrogant.
I definately don't want to replace the head of the family with Gov't payments.
In my bussiness I take the "difficult to Employ" off of public assistance. I work with vocational services programs like Goodwill Industires, moving these individuals into the regular work force providing them with full time employment. All of the 25 emoployees that work for me are from inner city and over 50% are displaced Vietnam Vets.
Just as importantly I don't want to replace each individuals "Values" and moral choices and replace them with Gov't mandated right wing born again christian extreamist doctrines that threaten to malign every facet of American life.
The same crippling intolerance and closed minded oppression that our fore fathers left behind when we first declared independance over two hundred years ago. It is unamerican to pick a supreme court judge to further the ajenda of a single religious faction to the detrament of the country as a whole. I can't believe we are blatantly picking born again cronies (Harriet Miers) with a wink and a nod to persue this presidents and his born again cohorts agenda. Bush should be impeached for taking the Oath of Office under false pretense for lieing during his conformation hearing to uphold the constitution and serve these united states. He serves his United religious state.

Oh and by the way if you realy respect and cherish our armed forces how do you send them into battle without armoured vehicles, sufficient body armour and even turniquets to stop them from bleeding to death from what could have been a minor injury. The body and vehicle armour alone would save 25% of the death and injury and there have been deaths from bleeding because we did not supply truniquets that solders in the civil war had. What if one of those were your son or daughter.
They were someones. How do you reconcile that.
