I was also amused by the bone they threw to the Steamroller team about how they could close some of the gap between AMD and Intel offerings since so much was left on the table by Bulldozer. "Could" being the operative term...

My personal opinion is that "could" will likely become "could have".

If Kanter's description of the changes in Haswell are accurate it would require a huge effort to not only make the changes but validate them. That's a lot of computer time, man hours and money. Not likely that effort could be matched by an increasingly downsized AMD. That's not even counting all that comes from power management associated with exploiting Intel's 22nm trigate process tech. He never touched on any of that.

AMD is much more likely to become a even tinier speck in the rearview mirror. Can you say "dust mote?" I knew you could.
