Yes, technical analysis does work. You're also correct that there are many other factors outside of it but market makers, hedge funds, and money managers all use T/A because...it works. It may be a self-fulfilling prophecy (it works because everyone uses it because everyone thinks it works) but it does work, nonetheless. It's not a simple matter, so, to the uninitiated, it looks like magic or quackery. It's also one reason why everyone isn't rich off of it - they haven't learned T/A. If you followed Apple's trading behavior, you'd know the best way to trade Apple is by looking at the charts. Apple reacts to supports and resistances as a "chartist" would expect.
