There's nothing to get excited about. Even if they actually do build a raman spectromoter (iG4), it's nothing new. They've been around a long time and there's many patents covering the various uses.

I can't see them building anything unique and certainly not revolutionary technology.

It appears as though the UV florescent technique is not going to used with the new instrument. The low energies used to vibrate/rotate molecules with RS would be overwhelmed by the higher energies used to cause florescences. It's extremely unlikely that CDEx will attempt to combine the two techniques IMO.

If they aren't using the UV will they still be able to measure the drug concentation? I don't think so IMO. If you read their PR you'll see they talk about concentration and drug strength, but they also refer to identifying volume-by-weight which seems to be Malspeak for measuring density or specific gravity- a measurment usually made by a refractometer.

So in a nutshell, I don't believe they can directly measure drug concentration like they did wih the old Valimed with the cuvettes.

This is my understanding and Malspesk interpertation of their PR.
