ARM have produced a processor that looks too hot for phones at 32nm at least in dual-core form which is probably why they have this big.little combination lined up as a single-core A15 combined with a single-core A7 should be acceptable. They need FinFET/FD-SOI to take the edge of this power consumption. Silvermont will probably have similar performance but at a lower power consumption thanks to 22nm Trigate LP and sticking with dual-issue. A15 is still underpowered to tackle any Core processor but it gives them something improved to work on with their future process technology. Does not change the future dynamics as I see it, a single core Silvermont with hyperthreading will have similar performance to an A15/A7 but at lower power, so Intel will make more inroads into tablets/phones than ARM will into Intel's legacy markets especially as Intel will be the only ones producing a full legacy Win 8 tablet with immediate effect with Clovertrail.
