Thanks, I did not know you could dry puffballs. I put a few small ones in a paper bag to hand out to kids so they can squeeze them for the spore volcano. Please share your method. Welcome to the board. Mushroom experts are very welcome. Do you have a preferred way to be addressed Alexandra?

Here in MN we occasionally get giant puffballs the size of basketballs. I usually cut slices, dip in egg, cover in bread crumbs, and fry. They start rotting as soon as you harvest so you gotta eat them right away. I am more of a morel fan though.

Maggots? Yuck! Never saw that in a puffball.
