Typically, an immune response is, a response to specific antigens. For the pupose of doing exactly what the immune system does, and that is, to recognize and destroy substances that contain antigens. That's an elementary way of saying, "a response for the purpose of building immunity".

Regarding, "triggering an immune response in a unique manner". In immunology there is a phenomena known as, "I-J Paradox". If Bavi is triggering a unique response, this may be something to consider.

In the next few weeks I will be writhing a paper on why I think Bavituximab is not showing immune systemic events. It will be broad scoped, ranging from molecular to genomic. FWIW, it ain't all bad ;)
