ORT.to / EORBF -- That was remarkable news from ORT yesterday.
Recall some of these observations about scandium (not to mention gallium) from recent sources:

—From the mid-Sept. Roth "initiating coverage" analyst report on ORT:
“Scandium pricing on Asian Metal is currently around $4,000/kg, compared with Orbite’s [PEA] estimate of $1,500, highlighting how unique and rare this element is.”

—From the Oct. 2012 Business Examiner article:
Another element that is becoming of increasing importance is scandium. Generally used as a catalyst, scandium has a high potential for use within the aluminum and the electrical fuel cell industries. Perhaps more importantly, it is a material that, when combined with aluminum, becomes a part of a hexagonal crystalline structure that possesses similar structural, electrical and thermal qualities as titanium, but at a fraction of the cost and weight.
“Aluminum-scandium is definitely going to become the next big thing in the aluminum industry,” [CEO Richard] Boudreault says, “because it is very likely to impact the aluminum-lithium used around the world within the next five years.” Until now, the fact that scandium has only been produced in a small region of Scandinavia and Russia in soviet-era mines made this future scenario look impossible. Now that Orbite Aluminae has access to this once unobtainable material it expects to produce enough scandium to meet pent-up global demand.

—June 2012 Northern Miner article on ORT:
“Scandium is a critical byproduct for Orbite, says [former MPartners analyst Marc] Johnson [now head of ORT's I.R.], because it contributes the most rare-earth revenues and is complementary to alumina. Aluminum alloyed with scandium is used in a variety of military and aeronautic applications.”

—From big shareholder Dalesio's writeup of ORT's AGM in late June 2012:
- [CEO] RB confirmed Orbite is working with Harper Conservative gov't to safeguard Canadian ingenuity/IP, potential for Orbite to become largest scandium etc producer on the planet. Scandium will help strengthen aeronautics industry in Canada, benefit Bombardier etc. Largest scandium producer claim is based on extrapolation of additional homogenous land claims owned at 100%.
