selinpinar,

The reason I think Clipstream will have basic features is due to its reliance on Javascript.

Destiny filed 7 patents on there design of the Clipstream G2. People file patents to prevent copiers especially if you are using generally available tools that anyone else can use.

I believe they have figured out several novel ways around javascripts feature limits. I believe they are embedding the player control graphics into the video file since javascript does not have video player controls. They are imitating the more robust player controls by Adobe Flash and Windows Media player.

In most cases, the players will function the same. I have reviewed the prototype. The only feature that I have not seen work well is the skip ahead feature that Youtube allows. The Adobe Flash control senses where the user wants to start viewing the video and the player starts playing at that point in the video. The prototype of Clipstream G2 did not do that. I do not know if that feature will be fixed or left out of Clipstream G2.

This one limit is not a problem for most users especially for advertisers who want people to view the whole video without any controls.

Clipstream G2 will be a big time winner for Destiny. Clipstream G2 will be the lowest cost solution for a world that has 1+ billion smart phone users who are recording videos daily with those phones. If they want to publish the videos to a universal format file that they can share with anyone, Clipstream G2 is their choice.
