The use of the Google numbers are a matter of admissibility - you can't just grab numbers from press releases or SEC filings, you need to have items submitted as evidence (which puts the data into the realm of "this better be true or you're going to jail", something you can't say for other types public info like SEC filings, which can be restated later on when "discrepancies" are found without much blowback.)
So, to put it another way, the IRS/SEC/press-release numbers can't be used in court - the court must receive information directly before it can be admitted and used at trial or for other rulings.
I have a social disorder (although it's not quite full blown Asperger's), and can come across differently than intended...if you're offended by something I've said, I probably didn't mean it with such animosity - please take it with a grain of salt. :)
