When Star filed the original lawsuit in Maryland back in May 2001 (01-cv-1504), RJR filed a counter-suit in North Carolina a few weeks later (01-CV-585). The NC lawsuit was 'Stayed' pending the outcome of the Maryland case. On September 24th, along with the other filings, RJR and Star filed a joint motion in the NC court to reopen the case so it could also be dismissed.

"The parties have reached a confidential settlement in this matter and therefore a Notice of Dismissal with Prejudice needs to be filed with the court"

The NC court has not responded to the motion. Wonder if that is hold up anything.
