Supposedly, the successful traders now use HFT, program trading, systems trading, and others. If the big boys don't rely on TA, TA won't work as often as it used to.

I use a system for trading gold and silver. It has nothing to do with TA. The system uses the 2 day moving average of gold and a gold mining index. The gold mining index generally leads physical gold. I'm bound to not reveal the specifics, but, I can tell you that it wins 45% of the time.

Now, that may sound crappy, but, this system catches the big moves in either direction and the average wins are double the average losses. This system has been back tested from 1995 until the present.

The trader I quoted back tested various TA principles and found them to be unreliable.

Of course, to each his own.
