Well, what you describe seems to be one of the (zillions of) approaches of building an architecture just because you can - and only after you have done it start thinking what it could be useful for. ;)

Nothing really wrong with it: It's fun to do, does not require much tiring out-of-the-box thinking, and is guaranteed to impress humble minds even if it is basically useless except for producing mips, flops of whatever numbers. The best about it is there is always a chance for an occasional fallout that you accidently find a useful application for it. :)
