The one truck was a Snyder(very large national carrier), the driver would be fired for hauling random freight like that. Tankers especially have to be washed out to prevent contaminating shipments. The unauthorized use of fuel alone would warrant possible termination, its the same as stealing in the eyes of trucking companies.

They could be hiring the trucks to load and bring it back offload later though. Trucking companies do not care as long as you pay them. The fact that is is a Snyder truck lends some credibility; they don't haul random loads most times. They want repeat freight and lanes; they won't haul without being paid either.
