Apologies I cannot add any value inside the Code-box. I believe comp.arch is the appropriate place to offer your thoughts. There has been a long (and winding) thread recently "Not enough parallelism in programming?" which gives an overview where things are (better said, where people are:)) in this respect.

And no, I did not mean this, but my remark with respect to X64 device-driver compatibility.
