"Why post that an attorney was leaving" -- because he's one of the attorneys of record on the case and he has evidently left the law firm, thus is no longer an attorney of record, and it needs to be in there. You can't have a final setllement where one of the attorneys listed as counsel isn't with the firm any more. Someday someone may have reason to contact one of the attorneys, and he isn't one now.

There are plenty of reasons that STSI still needs counsel -- like, for instance the final settlement still has to be signed and approved by the judge, or they are pursuing similar settlements with other companies.
