Nothing could be further from the truth ... Nothing was spun out of KTs words other than what was already PROVEN .. The PNAS paper proves and verifies that a major scientific achievement was done and that there IS a product that is superior to native silkworm silk .. Not just that, but this was proof of concept that the idea of genetically modifying a silkworm genome to make it capable of spinning a silkworm / spider silk composite IS possible .. This means that the technique is successful and that FURTHER genetic modifications are also possible in producing a variety of silk fibers with different mechanical properties including CUSTOM fibers that would fulfill specific commercial purposes ... That's on the scientific front (a major success) ... On the business and commercial side, KT made it clear that he is "in talks" with "big names" but will not release any specific information AT THIS STAGE of the game since these are early talks and it is in everybody's interest that it be kept confidential ... In case you didn't know, companies AND academic institutions involved in research do this ALL the time when sharing sensitive information .. CDAs and MTAs are routinely drafted by tech transfer personnel as well as lawyers knowledgeable in patent and business laws and all of this requires non-disclosure at the early stages ... Nothing new here ... KT also made it clear that he believes that the first commercial agreement will be signed with the military and sports apparel producers .. I don't know how much more specific can he be without disclosing sensitive information ...
Bottom line, this is a company with ENORMOUS potential BUT it is not for the day trader at the moment and not for the impatient short-term investor either ... If you are a medium to long term investor (my guess 1-2 years) and want to invest part of your portfolio in a higher risk, enormous gain potential company then it IS KBLB
