GL could not figure it out because he was not privy to it. He never had any authority nor viability to what happened after MF was fired. MG knows. JH knows but GL just never did. GL will now find himself in multiple courts without the resources to fight, none of the facts in his favor, and legal opinions stating he has acted against the company. He is begging for money o defend himself but I doubt any will come. JH has resources and competent people around him.
