Dr. Sayala has over 40 years of experience in various fields of environmental science and technology.

He has been a consultant to US EPA, DOE and DOD. He was also a consultant to the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank and international government agencies in Malaysia, Middle East, India, the Republic of Kazakhstan and Brazil.

He was a member of the team who developed Hazard Ranking System (HRS) for US EPA for screening of Superfund sites.

He worked as a senior program manager, technical staff and Assistant Vice President for Bendix Field Engineering Corporation, Mitre Corporation and SAIC respectively. He managed various environmental/radioactive waste management projects pertaining to US DOE, EPA and DOD, the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank projects in Kazakhstan, India, Malaysia and Middle East.

He has developed innovative technologies for radiation shielding, drinking water and wastewater treatment. In 2007, he received a US patent on radiation shielding, which is applied to radioactive waste management and hospital radiation protection infrastructure.

He has taught courses in environmental science, geology, ground water hydrology, geochemistry and natural resource assessments in U.S. and abroad. For the past few years, he has been teaching graduate-level courses: Hazardous Materials Transportation, Principles of Air Quality Management, Environmental Auditing and Fundamentals of Environmental Systems at UMUC.

He has published over 60 technical papers/journal articles/book articles.

He received many presitigeous awards from UMUC, US Dept. of Energy and MITRE Corporation. He is an inducted member of "American Men and Women of Science" and Asian Men and Women of Science". Currently, he is a Member of the Council of Energy Advisors
