Good question; part of me says no, I don't think Obama would want a collapse on his hands into the second term.

Or, maybe he does? I'm not sure.

The republicans wouldn't like it as lending is tight enough as is. Another crash will push lending into extinction. Making financing for everyone else even harder to get as the government crowds them out for borrowing.
