And I know this as I worked as an independent contractor for them several years ago and saw many of the rights agreements that were in place. Maybe things have changed since then, but I doubt it - it was set up that way to protect the IP.
As far as the claim of 5,000 comic book characters, that is also a bit misleading. That # comes from Rosenberg's point of view on how he sees IP within a comic book. For example, if a comic has 2 main characters, 3 secondary characters, and 1 unique "device" or vehicle or location, then those are 6 pieces of IP that could be developed into their own TV/Film pitch. So based on that logic, there are 5,000 of IP in the library. And Platinum hired a valuation firm a few years back to support that claim and will use that when questioned about the validity of their statement.
